
The Tennessee Volunteers are back on to of the hill – at least one of college baseball’s major polls.
Tennessee moved up from 2 to 1 in the Coaches Poll on Monday, leapfrogging the team they beat for the national title last June, Texas A&M. The Vols checked in at #2 in Baseball America’s poll and #3 in D1 Baseball.

Tennessee completed a sweep of Samford over the weekend in Knoxville, winning 5-1, 7-3, and 11-1. Tennessee had their first late-inning comeback on Saturday, going from 3-2 down in the seventh to a 7-3 lead in the eighth on a pinch-hit grand slam by freshman catcher Levi Clark.
LSU and Texas A&M, however, could not manage to avoid getting tripped up by a bottom tier opponent. LSU dropped a game to Omaha, and Texas A&M fell to Cal Poly. Arkansas also got dropped a game on Friday against Kansas State.
Tennessee gets a home date on Tuesday with North Alabama before heading to Houston to be a part of the Astros Foundation College Classic. The Vols will face Oklahoma State, Rice, and Arizona over the weekend.
