Phillips will enter the portal while also testing his NBA Draft stock at next week’s combine, allowing him to return to the college ranks if he ultimately decides against going pro.
The South Carolina native played in 32 games for Tennessee as a true freshman, averaging 8.2 points and 4.7 rebounds across 24 minutes per game.
Standing 6-foot-8, 198 pounds, the lengthy small forward was the No. 13 overall prospect in his class after playing his final prep season at Link Year in Missouri.
Phillips still has three years of eligibility remaining. The No. 20 Volunteers finished 25-11 last season, good for 4th in the SEC.
