The veteran will move on as Boo Carter appears to be the future at STAR.
Following Tennessee’s early exit in the College Football Playoff, the Volunteers will lose another defensive back to the transfer portal. Christian Harrison, who split time with Boo Carter at the STAR (nickel) position, will move on looking for new opportunities.
Harrison announced his decision on Sunday night.

Carter, a true freshman, came on strong as the year went and appears to be the future of the STAR position. Harrison and Carter platooned the position after Joudan Thomas was lost for the season in fall camp.
Harrison is a former three-star prospect and is the son of NFL Pro Bowl safety Rodney Harrison. He appeared in 24 games over the last three seasons, making four starts. The 6-1, 191 pound defensive back will have two years of eligibility remaining after taking a redshirt during the 2023 season.
Tennessee will obviously move forward with Carter and Thomas, assuming Thomas opts to return. The Volunteers should bring back outside cornerbacks Jermod McCoy and Rickey Gibson. At safety, Andre Turrentine has one season left, while Will Brooks will move on.
We’ll see if we get anymore movement out this week as players have until the 28th to enter the transfer portal. Players can still sign with new teams after that date, as long as they entered before the 28th.
