Former Tennessee football coach Jeremy Pruitt has landed a new gig. It’s just not what you’d expect.
According to a report from Paige Dauer, Plainview High School in Alabama has hired Pruitt as its physical education teacher.
The timing of this move makes sense for Pruitt, who recently received a six year show-cause from the NCAA for numerous violations, which includes “more than 200 individual infractions — most of which involved recruiting rules violations and direct payments to prospects, current student-athletes and their families.”
That being said, football fans couldn’t help but joke about Pruitt’s new job.

“I applied for the same job. Good to know it went to someone better than me,” one fan joked.

Another fan commented, “He’s coaching PE at a high school while University of Tennessee has to pay him $4.2 million until 2025. Sounds like a win for me.”

Pruitt coached at Alabama, Florida State and Georgia before becoming the leadman at Tennessee. His last coaching stint came in 2021 as a senior defensive analyst for the New York Giants.
It’s fair to wonder if we’ll ever see Pruitt coach football at the collegiate level again.
