Dalton Knecht left it all on the court during Tennessee’s Elite Eight game against Purdue last Sunday.
He did everything in his power to will the Vols to a win with 37 points but they came up just short in a 72-66 loss. He had over half of his team’s points and was the only Vol to score in double figures.
Despite that, he had nothing but good things to say about his coaches when he spoke to the media after the game.
“Yeah, I just love these guys, and I wish we could have one more game,” Knecht said, via On3. “I’m thankful for all these guys for accepting me for my one year here, as well as the coaching staff.”
After spending a couple with Northern Colorado, this was his only season with the Vols, but he quickly blossomed into one of their best players. He averaged 21 points and nearly five rebounds per game.
It led to him being a first-team All-American, which is a big deal since there’s a lot of great college basketball players in the country.
The Vols finished the 2023 season with a 27-10 overall record.
