The first half of today’s big game against newly-minted SEC rival Tennessee hasn’t been a fun one for the Oklahoma Sooners to say the least.
The first half of today’s game between the two sides has been pretty close but filled with turnovers. Midway through the second quarter, Tennessee took a 12-3 lead off of a safety. Unfortunately, things went from bad to downright tragic soon after.
A few minutes later, Oklahoma star defender Kendel Dolby tried making a tackle but got tangled up by a Tennessee offensive lineman. In the tangle, the lineman inadvertently spun on Dolby’s planted leg, twisting it in a direction that legs are not meant to go.
A slow motion replay is available below, but be advised that it’s not a fun sight to see:
Dolby had to be carted off the field and was supported by his teammates all the way until he was taken out of the stadium.
Fans on social media have collectively started offering their thoughts and prayers to Dolby as he recovers.
“God bless Kendel Dolby in his recovery,” Skip Bayless – a longtime Sooners fan – posted on X.
“Hate to see injuries like this absolutely awful. Hoping for a speedy recovery as soon as possible,” wrote another.
“That shows true team spirit and support. Wishing Kendel a swift recovery—it’s moments like these that highlight the bond between teammates,” a third user wrote.
We’re all wishing Dolby a full and swift recovery.
The game is being played on ABC.
