Bobby Osborne, one half of “The Osborne Brothers,” has passed away this month at the age of 91. The Grand Ole Opry confirmed his death on Tuesday afternoon.
“Bobby Osborne was among the last of his generation of bluegrass pioneers,” Opry executive producer Dan Rogers said. “What a profound loss for the Opry family and bluegrass music fans around the world. Mr. Osborne’s legacy will live forever on this stage we love and wherever his style is emulated. Thank you to Bobby Osborne for more than 70 years of music and memories.”
Osborne is best known for the song “Rocky Top.” It became the anthem of the Tennessee Volunteers.
With that said, Tennessee fans are obviously saddened by Osborne’s death.
One of the Opry’s legends. It was a privilege to have seen Bobby hundreds of times at the Opry. https://t.co/X10tSwGv40
