Len’Neth Whitehead is switching SEC football homes this season.
The former Tennessee running back, who entered the transfer portal in December, announced his commitment to Georgia on Monday night. According to DawgsHQ’s Rusty Mansell, the Athens native will join Kirby Smart’s program as a walk-on.
“The culture, the traditions, and I want to be coached by some of the best minds in college football,” Whitehead told Mansell regarding his decision to join Georgia. “I feel like Coach (Dell) McGee and Coach Kirby (Smart) can get me to the best player I can be.”

Whitehead turned 32 carries into 207 yards and two touchdowns during his freshman year at Tennessee. However, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound back didn’t receive any touches last season.
Whitehead told Mansell he’s excited to work with McGee, a running backs coach who has sent the likes of Nick Chubb, D’Andre Swift, James Cook, and Kenny McIntosh to the NFL.
“From the conversations we have had, he is a cool guy,” Whitehead said of McGee. “His knowledge of the position, you can beat it. He has been producing running backs year after year. I am excited to learn from him.”
Whitehead called it “unbelievable” to get the opportunity to play for Georiga and said he’s “coming to work day one.” He has three years of collegiate eligibility remaining.
