Yet another big one.
The first of a three-game homestand begins for Tennessee tonight at Food City Center. It’s a big one — as every game seems to be this SEC season — as Tennessee welcomes in the Kentucky Wildcats. It’ll be Mark Pope’s first trip to Knoxville as the head coach of the storied program.
Tennessee is once again looking to bounce back at home following a road loss. The Volunteers came up just short at Auburn on Saturday night as Zakai Zeigler’s three-point attempt to win rimmed out.
Kentucky will be shorthanded tonight, missing starting guard Lamont Butler and potentially forward Andrew Carr.
The Wildcats have dropped two straight games (Alabama, Vanderbilt) and has a tough task in front of them tonight. They’ll need a big performance from leading scorer Otega Oweh (15.9 ppg) and some hot shooting from Koby Brea (46 percent from 3pt) to have a shot. That won’t be easy going up against the top defense in the land, per KenPom.
