A big one.
The biggest remaining regular season game happens today — No. 5 Tennessee hosts No. 6 Alabama. The Crimson Tide are one of the projected No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament, but that could change today. Tennessee might just control their destiny for the first one-seed in program history.
Tennessee has won three straight games over Alabama.
Alabama is once again paced by standout guard Mark Sears, who is averaging 19 points per game. Aden Holloway is shooting 42 percent from three-point range, while Grant Nelson averages 12 points per game. They’ll run into the nation’s top-ranked defense, according to KenPom.
“I think they’re a better defensive team this year,” Rick Barnes said of Alabama. “I’m really impressed with them as offensive rebounders. And I look at how they play, we know that Nate (Oats) has done a tremendous job with his style of implementing what he wants to get done and got his players buying into their roles. And I’m just impressed with the consistency in which they’ve played the last couple years since he’s been there, and the fact that they know what they’re looking for. And he’ll tweak some things here or there, but he has stayed true to what he believes.”
