Could the Volunteers get back into the 1-seed conversation today?
Tennessee and Auburn are set to battle it out for a ticket to the SEC Tournament title game this afternoon in stormy Nashville. Potential severe storms give this day a little ‘08 feel as the Southeastern Conference tries to work out the 1-line in for the NCAA Tournament committee.
It’s a rematch of the rock fight we saw earlier in the year where Auburn narrowly edged Tennessee on The Plains. The Volunteers controlled that game late, but a corner three ultimately doomed the Volunteers with just seconds left to play.
Auburn is a projected No. 1 seed in next week’s NCAA Tournament, along with Florida who will take on Alabama today. Both the Crimson Tide and Volunteers sit on the 2-line — could they move up today with big wins? That’s what’s on the line this afternoon.
This is legitimately a potential NCAA Tournament level Final Four here, hopefully the weather doesn’t throw us any curveballs.
