The idea of Joe Milton behind center at Tennessee has fans in Knoxville salivating for the upcoming season.
And according to the Vols QB, he’s been taking some tips from Hall of Famer and campus legend Peyton Manning on how to become a better quarterback.
“You get a better connection, because you know he’s gonna be at the games and know that he’s gonna be in a facility,” Milton explained. “We also get to pick his brain, you’re gonna get to understand what he was thinking, how he sees defenses, how he goes about a team, you know, and just pretty much just have fun.”
Joe Milton’s arm is NUCLEAR 😳
The Volunteers QB put on a SHOW today at the Manning Passing Academy.
Milton is expecting a big senior season, with many scouts reportedly seeing “comparisons” between him and Anthony Richardson.

Milton seems to have a fan in Manning as well, who had plenty of good things to say about Tennessee’s cannon-arm QB at this week’s passing academy.
“I’ve enjoyed getting to know Joe,” Manning said. “We text occasionally and pull hard for him and I’m really proud of him coming in last year after Hendon’s injury and keeping things together and a great bowl win. A bowl win can do so much for a quarterback’s confidence, especially in his first year, really, as a starter. So I can tell Joe’s confident and I’m excited about him having a great senior year.”
“He was throwing yesterday with my son, Marshall, who’s attending the camp this year,” Manning continued. “And I mean like 40 yards is like a little flick for him, just a warmup.”
Fans will be hoping 2022’s success was “just a warmup” for Milton after finishing with over 900 yards and 10 touchdowns to zero interceptions in limited snaps last season.
