Trouble could be on the way for the University of Tennessee.
Pat Forde of Sports Illustrated reported Tuesday that Tennessee is once again under NCAA investigation. The Volunteers are being investigated for potential rules violations that are deemed “major.”
Last summer, Tennessee’s football team was penalized for over 200 rules infractions. It was considered one of the worst cases the NCAA Committee on Infractions has ever seen.
This investigation, however, isn’t strictly a football-related problem for Tennessee. This case involves multiple sports teams.
All we know right now is Tennessee’s latest issue – to some degree – has to do with name, image and likeness.

Meghan Durham Wright, the NCAA’s associate director of communications, turned down the opportunity to provide information about this investigation.
“With rare exceptions, the NCAA does not comment on current, pending or potential investigations due to confidentiality rules put in place by member schools,” Wright said.
We’ll continue to provide updates on Tennessee’s situation when they’re available.
