A big weekend.
Tennessee baseball has arrived in Houston today for their appearance in the Astros Foundation College Classic. The weekend will be held at the Astros’ home stadium, the newly renamed Daikin Park.
The Volunteers will face Oklahoma State, Rice and Arizona. Tony Vitello will start Liam Doyle against the Cowboys on Friday afternoon and will turn to Marcus Phillips on Saturday against Rice. As usual, Tennessee did not announce a Sunday starter for the Arizona matchup.
With huge depth all over the roster, it will be interesting to see who cracks the lineup as Tennessee steps up in competition this weekend.
Tennessee has started the season with a white hot 8-0 mark, scoring over 13 runs per game. The Vols are tied for the national lead in homeruns, already with 21 on the season. They rank fifth overall in ERA.
Oklahoma State is 4-3 on the season after being selected to win the Big 12 during the preseason. Rice was picked to finish last in the AAC, while Arizona entered the season ranked inside of the top 25.
