When the University of Texas joins the SEC next year there may be some confusion with the University of Tennessee over abbreviating their names. But Vols head coach Josh Heupel intends to set the record straight.
During his appearance at SEC Media Days, Heupel was asked which of the two schools would go by “UT” once the Longhorns join the conference. Heupel boldly declared that there is “only one real UT” and that it’s Tennessee.
“There’s only one real UT,” Heupel said with a smile. “One right shade of orange.”
Vols fans definitely appreciated Heupel setting the record straight, while others pointed out that there’s no “UT” logo, only the bright orange “T.”

Unfortunately for us football fans, we’ll have to wait until at least 2025 or later to see the Vols and the Longhorns play one another (barring a bowl game) and settle once and for all who the “real” UT is.
Which school do you think is the “real UT?”
