A big pickup.
As expected, Tennessee has picked up a commitment from transferring Alabama receiver Amari Jefferson. The former four-star prospect is originally out of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

With his recruiting process going down to the wire, Jefferson ultimately chose Alabama over Tennessee. The previous Tennessee baseball commit now returns to his home state and will help to fill a huge need in Josh Heupel’s offense.
Tennessee will lose Bru McCoy and Dont’e Thornton, along with several transfers. Squirrel White, Kaleb Webb, Chas Nimrod, Nathan Leacock and Nate Spillman all exited the program via the transfer portal. Tennessee was able to retain Mike Matthews, but still had just three scholarship returners at the position.
Jefferson was the 200th ranked prospect in the class of 2024, according to 247Sports. The Baylor School product checks in at 6-0, 197 pounds. Jefferson did not play during his only season with Alabama.
Tennessee now has four scholarship receivers on the roster and they’ll welcome three more in the class of 2025. The Volunteers likely aren’t done in the portal here, either.
