The latest top 25.
After the first weekend of SEC play, Tennessee remains ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation. The gap to Auburn continues to be ever so close, however. The Volunteers received 1484 points in this week’s AP poll compared to Auburn’s 1453. Tennessee received 45 first-place votes while Auburn received 15.
Tennessee had another impressive win over Arkansas over the weekend, but face their first massive conference road test on Tuesday at Florida. The Gators, who fell to No. 8 after dropping a road game to Kentucky, are always a tough out at the O’Dome.
Auburn will travel to Texas and South Carolina this week.
The top five of the AP Poll didn’t change. Kentucky climbed up to No. 6, while UConn clawed back into the top ten at No. 9.
Illinois, Tennessee’s biggest win of the season so far, is back up to No. 13 after a blowout win against Oregon. That road win continues to look better and better, thanks to Jordan Gainey’s heroics.
