An easy weekend.
Tennessee entered Sunday looking to cap off a sweep, and that’s exactly what they did. The Volunteers once again made quick work of Hofstra, who will be happy to get out of Knoxville after this weekend.
Hofstra would open the scoring in this one, getting on the board with a sacrifice fly off of Tennessee starter Nate Snead. It wouldn’t last long though — an error in center and a wild pitch would immediately get us back to a tie game in the bottom half of the inning.
Back to back to back RBIs would follow as Cannon Peebles, Stone Lawless and Reese Chapman would combine to give Tennessee a quick 4-1 lead.
Snead worked out of a jam in the 2nd inning, dancing out of trouble after putting two men on. The errors would continue for Hofstra in the bottom of the 2nd. A throwing error from shortstop would plate Dean Curley, then a failed pick-off attempt would score Gavin Kilen. A bases loaded walk made it 7-1.
Reese Chapman unloaded the bases shortly after with a towering blast to left center.
Reese is feeling GRAND!
It’s 12-1 after two innings here on Rocky Top after an eight run second for the Big Orange.

And just like that, Tennessee put up eight runs in the bottom of the 2nd and built a 12-1 lead.
Snead ended up going three innings, facing 13 batters. He struck out three, walked two and gave up one earned run. Andrew Behnke was credited with the win.
Tennessee went on to a run-rule 13-1 win to sweep the season-opening series. The No. 2 Volunteers are now 3-0, and will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon (4:30 p.m. ET) against UNC Asheville. They’ll face Samford next weekend in a three-game series.
