The Tennessee Vols are back in a comfortable spot in the polls again: the top five.
Tennessee moved up one spot to #5 in the AP Poll on Monday afternoon. They did the same in the Coaches Poll as well, sitting at 5 there, too.
POLL ALERT: Preseason No. 1 Kansas falls out of AP Top 25, ending 80-week poll run; Auburn-Duke are 1-2, St. John’s up to No. 7.

Auburn held the top spot in both, followed by Florida and then Duke. Houston took the fourth spot after defeating Iowa State on Saturday in a battle of top ten teams.
Five is a pretty common spot for the Vols among pretty much all major ranking systems right now. Aside from the two polls, the Vols are currently fifth in KenPom ratings as well as the fifth overall seed in ESPN Joe Lunardi’s most recent bracketology seedings.
The Vols will have a chance to leap up in all rankings this week, as they take on #6 Alabama on Saturday in Knoxville. The Crimson Tide fell down to #6 after a losing by 12 to Missouri on the road before beating Kentucky at home by 13. Bama is the 3 overall seed and a one seed in Lunardi’s latest projections, a spot Tennessee could yank with a win.
That is, if the Vols can handle business on Tuesday night at LSU first.
