On Friday, the SEC preseason media poll was released to the public. Believe it or not, some members actually picked Vanderbilt to win the conference.
No, that was not a mistake on our part. The actual preseason media poll shows that five people picked Vanderbilt to win the SEC.
Pat Forde of Sports Illustrated had a fitting reaction to this year’s preseason media poll.
“Five picked Vandy to win the whole league,” Forde tweeted. “Only a hater would point out that it’s never happened before.”

Of course, Forde isn’t the only person shocked by this development.
One fan tweeted, “Does the @Cover3Podcast have a SEC media vote? I can’t think of what other media would be that optimistic about Vandy.”
Another fan asked, “Are these AI votes for Vandy? Or real people who know something about football?”
After going 2-10 in Clark Lea’s first season at the helm, Vanderbilt went 5-7 in 2022.
Maybe, just maybe, this will be the year where the Commodores take the country by storm.
