Longtime college football coach Fred Pancoast passed away on Sunday.
He was 90 years old.
Pancoast served in three head coaching stints during his nearly two-decade coaching career at the collegiate level: Tampa from 1962-63, Memphis State (now University of Memphis) from 1972-74 and Vanderbilt from 1975-78. He collected a 41-51-4 overall record as a head coach.
Pancoast also spent offensive coordinator stints with Florida and Georgia. He was the Gators’ quarterbacks coach when Steve Spurrier won the Heisman Trophy in 1966.
