Clark Lea guided Vanderbilt to a win unlike any in the program’s history on Saturday — but the Dores head coach says his team isn’t done.
During his postgame interview with Alyssa Lang of the SEC Network, surrounded by screaming Vandy fans, the 42-year-old HC shared how proud he was of the young men in his locker and how this should only be a launching point for Commodores Football.
“Too much to express right now. I’m proud of our team. I believe in our team. I believe in what we’re building. There’s more for us than this. This isn’t a finish point but it’s a hell of an arrival. … I love this university. I love this team. Let’s go get some more,” Lea said.
That didn’t stop the Lea from admitting that he’s going to enjoy this well-earned victory though.
“This is a dream right here and for the next 12 hours, I’m going to enjoy the dream,” he added.
“This isn’t the finish point, but it’s a hell of an arrival.” 🗣️

Fans around the CFB world were so happy for Lea and his team.
“Congrats to Vandy, from a Bama grad. They played their tails off. Have a blast tonight, Nashville!!!” a user commented.
“On the same day that God had blessed my family with our 6th child/3rd baby girl, the football gods have finally blessed my bloodline fandom,” another shared. “You don’t wake up and choose to be a Vandy fan you’re born into it. After this win maybe we can grow this base. Love my team!”
“If Clark Lea’s agent is smart, he’ll walk into the AD’s office immediately after this game and lock down a lifetime contract.”
Lea’s offense led by quarterback Diego Pavia hung 40 on the No. 1-ranked Crimson Tide. And the defense did about as well as you can holding Bama’s weapons in-check.
Congrats, coach!
