Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia stunned the college football world on Saturday afternoon, with a shocking upset of No. 1 Alabama.
Pavia, a senior quarterback, completed 16 of 20 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns in his team’s 40-35 win against Alabama at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. It was the biggest win of the Clark Lea era at Vandy and the program’s biggest win in ages. Naturally, Pavia and his teammates were incredibly excited following the win. Pavia’s postgame interview with SEC Network reporter Alyssa Lang went viral on social media.
“God gave me a vision when I was a little kid…” Pavia began.
“Vandy, we’re f—— turnt!”
While an apology for his swearing wasn’t necessary, Pavia took to social media on Sunday, to apologize for his postgame interview with Lang.
“I’m sorry for cussing last night but, God you are the TRUTH AND ALL THE GLORY GOES TO YOU!! For yall that don’t know him, get to know him. HE IS MAGICAL!” he wrote.
Pavia is getting an onslaught of messages from fans, telling him that his apology wasn’t necessary. Vanderbilt was indeed “f—— turnt” on Saturday night.
The Commodores are thinking national championship now, too.
“I love Vandy,” he said on Saturday night. “This is what I came here for. Came here to win big football games. Our ultimate goal is to go to the College Football Playoff, and so we want a chance at the national championship. Just how everyone else does.
“This is just a step in the way, and we just got to keep getting better. There’s still little mistakes out there that we got to clean up. But you know, any given Saturday, anything’s possible.”
While a national championship is probably out of reach, the Commodores should be going bowling this year, which is a nice step in the right direction for Clark Lea’s program.
