Vanderbilt football is scheduled to open its 2023 season at home against Hawaii less than two weeks from now.
Right now, FirstBank Stadium, where the team plays its home games, remains under construction. The major renovation project is part of the Vandy United Campaign’s “Dare to Grow” initiative.
The official Vanderbilt football Twitter account shared a photo of the progress on Monday.

The renovation of the North and South end zones of FirstBank Stadium is not just to make alterations to what has been the Commodores’ home field for over a century.
According to the official Vanderbilt website, the building will also include “a new basketball practice facility, student-athlete dining hall, and a variety of premium seating options.”
Because the construction will be ongoing this fall, fans attending Vandy home games are being asked to prepare for “road closures, and new routes to pedestrian walkways, entrance and exits of facilities.”
Vanderbilt’s 2023 season opener is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 26. The Commodores will look to build on last year’s 5-7 record, which included a 63-10 thrashing of Hawaii, this year’s opening opponent, as well as back-to-back SEC wins over Kentucky and Florida.
