The Tennessee Titans had a woeful 2024 season. A season so bad that they landed the top pick in the 2025 NFL draft. This year’s draft class isn’t as flashy or filled with as many quarterbacks at the top as last year, but the Titans get first dibs on whatever player they decide to bring in.
One of their biggest needs is improved quarterback play, and Brian Callahan has already let Will Levis know that there will be competition for the starting position in 2025. It’s possible the Titans answer that question through the draft, and Pro Football Focus says that Miami University’s Cam Ward is the “perfect prospect” for the Titans.
The Titans were seemingly the only non-playoff team to understand the assignment over the two weeks, “winning” the opportunity to pick first overall. Current QB Will Levis has done little to inspire confidence going forward, as his 54.5 passing grade was the lowest mark in the league for the 2024 season.
Cam Ward made huge strides at Miami this season, posting 39 TDs to just seven interceptions with an impressive 28 big-time throws. He is currently the top QB on the PFF big board and makes perfect sense for the Titans as they continue to rebuild.
The Titans hoped Levis would be the guy to take over as the franchise quarterback when they drafted him in 2023, but he simply hasn’t developed the way anyone hoped. Maybe Cam Ward is the answer, even if just to put a thorn in Levis’ side to make him work harder.
Or maybe the Titans answer the quarterback question in free agency or via a trade, so they don’t have to start from scratch for the second time in as many years. He may be the top quarterback on many lists right now, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to make an immediate impact in the NFL.
Regardless of what the Titans decide to do with that first pick, they have options. Ward might prove to be the perfect fit if the Titans draft him, but ultimately, we won’t know until (if) it happens.
