The Tennessee Titans hired Mike Borgonzi as the team’s new general manager, in part to assist in transforming the culture inside the organization. Coming from Kansas City, he has experience in taking a team from the No. 1 overall selection in the NFL draft to the Super Bowl and that will be valuable in the job facing him.
During their opening press conference, president of football operations Chad Brinker and Borgonzi discussed and agreed upon is that they are open to options with regard to their first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Many fans are torn about what direction the team should take. Quarterbacks Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, edge Abdul Carter and playmaker Travis Hunter are all mentioned by different parts of the fan base.
At this point, no one knows exactly what direction the Titans will take. That didn’t stop the team at Pro Football Focus (PFF) to weigh-in with their thoughts on the perfect prospect for the Titans.
Tennessee Titans: QB Cam Ward, Miami
The Titans were seemingly the only non-playoff team to understand the assignment over the past two weeks, “winning” the opportunity to pick first overall. Current QB Will Levis has done little to inspire confidence going forward, as his 54.5 passing grade was the lowest mark in the league for the 2024 season.
Cam Ward has made huge strides in Miami this season, posting 39 TDs to just seven interceptions with an impressive 28 big-time throws. He is currently the top QB on the PFF big board and makes perfect sense for the Titans as they continue to rebuild.
There is no doubt that Tennessee will be looking for a quarterback this offseason and Ward has the tools to be successful. In fact, he could very well end up being the player they target. But, as a reminder to fans, Tennessee is in the beginning stages of building their draft board and there is no way to know exactly what they are thinking.
One thing has become certain: Ward is quickly becoming the pundit favorite for the No. 1 selection with multiple outlets projecting this to be the pick. It’s only January though, and a lot can change between now and April.
What would you do with that selection, take Cam Ward or someone else? Sound off and let us here at Titans Wire know what you would do if you were the general manager.
