Cam Ward is easily the most popular pick for the Titans so far
Yesterday, we looked at a 2025 NFL mock draft from Pro Football Focus that had the Tennessee Titans spending the first overall pick on Miami quarterback Cam Ward. Since then I have seen three or four others that have them going that same direction. That includes the mock draft from Jordan Reid this morning at ESPN. If you have been through many of these draft cycles, you know that often the guy that is the popular pick in January doesn’t end up being the pick in April. Will that be true this year?
In Reid’s commentary on the pick (see below) he says league sources tell him the Titans must take a quarterback. Look, if the Titans are sold on a quarterback in this draft, Ward or otherwise, they absolutely should take that player with the first overall pick. We all know there is nothing more important in this league than getting a franchise quarterback.
With that being said, they should not take a quarterback they aren’t sold on solely because they don’t have a quarterback. All that will do is set the franchise back another four to five years. If they aren’t sold on any of the guys in this draft, they should trade back and add picks to build up a roster that still has a ton of holes.
Here is Reid’s full commentary on the Ward pick:
When asked what the Titans should do with their first No. 1 pick since 1978, sources around the league told me they must take a quarterback — but were split between Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. The 6-foot-2, 223-pound Ward is currently my top QB prospect, and I think the Titans would select him here.
His combination of arm power, creativity and a shortstop-like throwing motion make him an electric playmaker. He can also beat you deep, as his 29 completions on passes of 20-plus air yards were the seventh most nationally. Ward threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions for the Hurricanes this season while also rushing for four touchdowns.
