Could Derrick Henry be headed further south?
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the odds that the free agent running back lands with the Miami Dolphins have skyrocketed since they first opened at +7500. Now they sit at +1000.
It’s an interesting development given that the Fins already have a pair of really good ballcarriers in Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane. But ever since Henry revealed that he wished the Dolphins had drafted him when he came out of Alabama in 2016, his name has been linked to the team.
I wanted to go to Miami. I wanted to play for the Dolphins. That’s where I wanted to go. That’s where I thought I was going. I thought possibly I was gonna go to the Panthers. I thought a slim chance I was gonna come to the Cowboys, but I probably figured they’d take Zeke [Elliott] when they did.
The four-time Pro Bowler would give Miami a different dimension in the run game with his ability as a short-yardage specialist and its fun to envision a runner like Henry in Mike McDaniel’s offense.
It isn’t likely that the Titans bring Henry back after 9,502 yards and 90 touchdowns in eight NFL seasons. We’ll see if the Dolphins bring the Jacksonville native back to his home state in 2024.
