Lockett is one of the best and most beloved players in the history of the Seattle Seahawks, but all good things must come to an end. Stuck behind D.K. Metcalf and up-and-coming star Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the veteran wideout finished his season with 49 receptions for 600 yards, two touchdowns, and a 65.2 PFF grade on 74 targets. Seattle released Lockett shortly before the start of the 2025 league year, saving $17 million in the process.
Tyler Lockett originally entered the league as a third-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Selected by the Seattle Seahawks, the Kansas State product started his career on a high note. Appearing in all 16 games, the rookie finished his inaugural season with 51 receptions for 664 yards and six touchdowns on 69 receptions. He also shined as a returner, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors for his work on special teams while returning a kick and a punt for a touchdown.
After posting similar numbers in 2016 and 2017, Lockett took the next step in the fourth year of his career. Appearing in all 16 games, the veteran recorded 57 receptions for 965 yards and 10 touchdowns. He followed this up with four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, maintaining a key role in the offense despite D.K. Metcalf’s emergence in 2019 and Russell Wilson’s departure in 2022.
Lockett’s best season likely came during the final year of the Russell Wilson Era. Starting and appearing in all 16 games, the former third-round pick finished his season with 73 receptions for 1,175 yards and eight touchdowns despite Wilson missing time with an injury and never quite looking like his old self.
Since signing his rookie contract, Tyler Lockett has appeared in 161 games while making 134 starts. While on the field, the veteran has recorded 661 receptions for 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns.
