NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Brian Callahan era has begun in Tennessee. The Titans formally introduced Callahan Thursday afternoon at St. Thomas Sports Park.
Titans Executive Vice President and General Manager Ran Carthon said he and Callahan plan to “hunt together.”
“[Carthon’s] energy and passion for the Tennessee Titans made me believe in him and that’s what made me want to be here standing in his room and I’m again thankful that I get to be here, because a lot of it is because of what Ran presented as we started this process,” Callahan said at his introductory press conference.
Callahan said there was an instant connection with the Titans front office.
“You felt the want to be great,” said Callahan. “And I walked in here on Monday for my interview, and that’s one of the things that stood out is there’s a lot of passionate people here that want the Titans to be a great football team and a great organization, and I felt like that’s where I want to be. I want to be a part of that.”
This was a moment Callahan has waited for his entire life. He told us how he recalls as a child being in Jon Gruden’s quarterback room, going to work with his dad, Bill, who was also a head coach. He became emotional when reflecting on those moments with his father.
“Obviously, you want to be like your dad,” Callahan said tearing up at the podium.
The voice of the Titans, Mike Keith, told News 2’s Samaria Terry, “I heard from Peyton Manning and he made it clear that this guy checks all the boxes for a guy that is ready to lead an organization, ready to lead a football team.”
Keith’s full interview is above.
Callahan made it clear that wants to keep a physical run game that has been the cornerstone of the Titans franchise. He also wants to listen to his players and really value their input.
