Cam Ward was drafted as the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Tennessee Titans. He will be the Day 1 starter for the Titans, taking over for an offense that struggled last season. Can Ward turn around the Titans, and how does his dynasty outlook compare to the other rookie quarterbacks in the class?
Dynasty Outlook for Cam Ward
Current Production
Ward played two seasons at Washington State before transferring to Miami (FL) for his senior season. Ward had a terrific season, leading the Hurricanes to a 10-2 regular season record. He threw for over 4000 passing yards and had 39 touchdowns in the high-flying Miami offense. Ward showed he could air it out with the best of them in the college game.
Ward also added decent rushing production, having over 200 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. He does provide some value with his legs, which is very important for fantasy football.
Ward Dynasty Price
According to KeepTradeCut, a website that crowdsources dynasty values from players who use the site, Ward is the QB14 in dynasty leagues. He is behind Bo Nix, Jordan Love, and Kyler Murray while ahead of J.J. McCarthy, Baker Mayfield, and Michael Penix Jr. There are a few young quarterbacks in this range with limited playing time in the NFL.
In rookie mock drafts and in Superflex leagues, Ward is an early to mid-round pick. In non-Superflex leagues, he is a late-first to early second-round pick. Ashton Jeanty is the only surefire player to be drafted ahead of Ward in rookie Superflex drafts, but it would not be surprising to also see Omarion Hampton and Tetairoa McMillian to also be drafted ahead of him.
Dynasty Rookie Superflex Mock Draft
What makes Cam Ward valuable is that he is in his own tier among rookie quarterbacks entering 2025. Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart, and Jalen Milroe are not as good as Ward and are not guaranteed to start 17 games in 2025. Ward is the Day 1 Starter for the Titans. In contrast, there were multiple Day 1 starters in 2024, including Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Bo Nix, while Drake Maye was right behind. Dart and Milroe might have a higher ceiling in a couple of seasons, but the floor is also the lowest. Ward is the safest rookie quarterback in this class. If fantasy managers need at quarterback for this season, Ward is the clear best option.
Cam Ward Dynasty Outlook
The Titans offense was not good last season, being bottom ten in yards per game and points per game. Ward will look to turn that around. However, the offensive skill weapons around Ward are not that great. Calvin Ridley is a solid wide receiver, but the other options are Tyler Lockett, Treylon Burks, and Van Jefferson. The Titans should add to the room later in the draft, but a middle-to-late-round rookie wide receiver is not a guaranteed game-changer.
The Titans offense can only get better through the years. With Ward, fantasy managers are drafting a rookie quarterback who will be the guaranteed quarterback for a couple of seasons. There are better situations that he could be drafted into, but the Titans will build around him.
Should You Draft Cam Ward in Dynasty Leagues?
The simple answer is no. I would rather take a chance on one of the players with more upside in Dart or Milroe. Even if they sit on the bench for a couple of seasons, their rushing upside gives them a much higher ceiling in the future. The only scenario where I would consider drafting Ward is if I desperately need a quarterback, but even in that scenario, my team is probably not that good, and I would rather tank anyway. Ward is an exciting young player, but the team situation is not great, and there are cheaper options later in the draft with higher ceilings.
