The Titans need Hopkins to play 60% of the snaps
The Tennessee Titans traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 5th-round pick that can turn into a 4th-round pick if Hopkins plays 60% of the Chiefs’ offensive snaps and if the Chiefs make the Super Bowl. Of course, we won’t know if the Chiefs make the Super Bowl or not until January, but they seem to be on that course currently with a 9-0 start to the season.
We can keep track of how many snaps Hopkins has played. Here is where it stands through the first three games since the trade:
Week 8: 23 of 72 snaps played (32%)
Week 9: 51 of 85 snaps played (60%)
Week 10: 44 of 68 snaps played (65%)
Running total: 118 of 225 snaps played (52%)
It is good to see his snaps continuing to increase each week. It is going to take some time to get that number over 60% with Hopkins playing just 32% in his first game. As long as Hopkins stays healthy and productive, which he has been with 14 catches for 171 yards and two touchdowns in three games, it should not be a problem to hit that number.
I would be interested to know how it works if Hopkins is a healthy scratch. There’s a good chance the Chiefs won’t have anything to play for in week 18. If that is the case, he will likely sit out that game. If those snaps count, that would pretty much end any chance he hits 60%.
