In this dead period before the scouting combine, there are a ton of analysts speculating about the NFL draft. Every outlet seems to have their own take on what they’ve heard or what they think the Tennessee Titans will do with their first pick.
Sitting here today before the combine, free agency, player interviews, or pro day workouts, it is hard to tell what direction Tennessee will go. At this point, all anyone knows is the Titans are looking for a generational talent.
By all accounts, Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter are the four names widely associated with Tennessee. While they are popular and fill various needs on the roster, it is still hard to totally hone in on a prospect.
NFL Nation on ESPN used the East-West Shrine Bowl and Senior Bowl to gather information about the upcoming NFL draft and here is what they found out about the Titans and the No. 1 pick.
Will the Titans trade or keep the No. 1 pick?
Trade the pick: Five votes
Keep the pick: Three votes
The overall feeling is the Titans will trade the top pick in the draft. The execs, coaches and scouts who voted that way believe the Titans lack true game-altering players and say none of the quarterbacks in this draft class can elevate the current supporting cast. So moving back with a QB-needy team for more picks could be the way to go for Tennessee.
As the article continued, the reality of the Titans organization was brought out in different ways. Tennessee has a lot of holes on their roster, especially along the offensive line, and the team must fix those to be successful.
The polling conducted by ESPN did confirm that Carter, Hunter, Sanders and Ward are the four prospects the Titans (or another team) will target with the No. 1 pick. Too bad fans will have to wait until April to find out what happens.
