The Tennessee Titans have their work cut out for them during the offseason. The offense needs a serious overhaul, with the exception of a few skill players. The offensive line needs reworked, the quarterback needs proper development or to be replaced, and the defense could use some depth.
The Titans will answer some of those questions in the draft, but they will look to free agency as well. Recently, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chris Godwin agreed to push back his contract void date to March 12, giving the two sides time to come to an agreement. If they can’t come to an agreement, it will be too late to place the franchise tag on Godwin, and he will become a free agent. If that happens, Tennessee could be a landing spot for Godwin, per CBS Sports.
This is one of those “if the Titans plan to draft a quarterback” things. You don’t want Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders throwing to Calvin Ridley and a bunch of question marks. Giving that QB one outside guy and one slot guy who you know will be reliable targets is a good way to establish a baseline level of quality in the receiving corps. You can then add another guy in the draft to build in some potential upside.
Godwin appeared in seven games for the Bucs in 2024, recording 576 yards on 50 receptions and scoring five touchdowns. He went down with an ACL injury, though, and missed the remainder of the season. Still, whoever lines up under center this fall will need weapons to throw to, and if Godwin becomes a free agent, well, he’d be a welcome addition in Nashville.
