Is Abdul Carter the “generational talent” Chad Brinker was talking about?
Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network has put out his first 2025 NFL mock draft. He has the Tennessee Titans taking Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State with the first pick. Jeremiah mentions that Carter is the player that came to his mind when Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker talked about a generational talent.
It is funny that everyone immediately went to Travis Hunter or one of the quarterbacks after that comment from Brinker. Carter is the perfect combination of best player available and need for the Titans. Those things don’t always line up, but that could be exactly the case for the Titans this year.
My preference for the Titans would be to find a way to trade back in the first round and still get Carter. That might sound like a pipe dream, but if the New York Giants, who have the third pick, are looking to trade up for a quarterback, it could actually happen. In that scenario, the Giants trade up to number one and take a quarterback, then the Cleveland Browns take either the other quarterback or Travis Hunter with the second pick. Titans still get Carter at three and add a couple of top 100 picks.
Here is what Jeremiah had to say about the Carter pick:
My ears perked up when Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker said the team wouldn’t pass on a generational talent with the first pick. To me, Carter is the best player in the draft and he plays a premium position. I could see Tennessee looking to add competition for QB Will Levis in the free-agent market or later on in the draft.
