Last offseason, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was the Tennessee Titans’ major offensive acquisition.
This year, Tennessee signed wideout Calvin Ridley in free agency, investing big money in the former Jacksonville and Atlanta playmaker.
This week, Hopkins expressed excitement and optimism about the ceiling for the Titans’ offense this coming season.
“I think my game is not just being on the outside, or on the inside,” Hopkins said, via the team’s website. “I’ve tried to take pride in that over the past couple of years, focusing on beating guys on the inside. Earlier in my career I was just kind of really on the outside, and I realized that I could have success everywhere on the field. And I think just utilizing me wherever I am needed, if it is blocking, chipping, doing whatever I need. Wherever I can be useful, that’s where I’ll be. I think the sky is the limit, especially after getting a guy like Calvin. So I am very excited about this offense.”
After sitting out the entire 2022 season due to a gambling suspension, Ridley returned to catch 76 passes for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns for the Jaguars last fall.
Add that to Hopkins’ 75 receptions, 1,057 yards and seven scores and the Titans should have two bona fide perimeter weapons this season.
That’s important, considering the team will no longer have bell cow Derrick Henry to rely on offensively and must find out soon if 2023 draft pick Will Levis is the long-term answer at quarterback.
