This is going to make for an interesting draft process for Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.
Deion Sanders was on Speak on FS1 yesterday and said that he will step in to keep the wrong team from drafting Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Sanders did say that he would not do it publicly. That’s reassuring, I guess.
Shedeur Sanders and Hunter are considered to be two of the top prospects in this draft. Shedeur looks right now to be the #1 quarterback in this draft. When asked the kind of team Deion wants Shedeur to go to, here is what he had to say:
Somebody that can handle the quarterback that he is. Somebody that can handle understanding what he’s capable of. Someone that has had success in the past handling quarterbacks or someone in an organization understands what they’re doing, not just throwing you out there amongst the wolves if you don’t have the support and the infrastructure of the team. Forget the line, he’s played with lines that haven’t been great but he’s been able to do his thing, but just the infrastructure of the team, the direction of where we’re going.
We have no idea what the Tennessee Titans do or will think about Shedeur as a prospect, but there is a chance they will be in a position to draft the Colorado QB. It would be interesting to know what Deion thinks of Brian Callahan and if he falls into the camp of someone “who can handle the quarterback he is.”
As for Hunter, I’d be interested to know what Deion thinks is the right place. It seems that most people expect Hunter to mainly be a cornerback in the NFL. Whatever team drafts him will probably have some packages for him on offense – much like the Dallas Cowboys did for Deion when he played there.
