Wilson talks about what the Titans are getting in Baker
The Tennessee Titans made both of their reported trades from yesterday official today. Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson was asked about Baker at his press conference today. He called Baker “sideline to sideline tough guy that brings some explosiveness.” Wilson also said Baker shouldn’t have much trouble getting up to speed here because the terminology is similar to what the Seattle Seahawks use.
Baker took a visit here this offseason at the beginning of free agency. He left without signing a contract, obviously, and ultimately ended up signing with Seattle. He was a highly recruited player coming out of high school before signing with Ohio State.
The Miami Dolphins spent a third-round pick on Baker in the 2018 draft. That was the draft where the Titans took Rashaan Evans in the first round.
In his career, Baker has 23.5 sacks and five interceptions. It will be interesting to see how he is deployed this season. He should plug in next to Kenneth Murray initially, but the Titans also have rookie Cedric Gray working his way back from an injury.
