After the Tennessee Titans upset the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18, Derrick Henry thanked the fans at Nissan Stadium. That sparked speculation about his NFL future.
During an appearance on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast this week, Henry revealed what’s next for his NFL career.
Henry confirmed that he still wants to play football. However, he wants to suit up for a team that can contend for a Super Bowl.
“Like I said, I want to win a Super Bowl,” Henry said. “I ain’t done playing, I ain’t close to done playing. I still feel I can run for another 2,000, but that’s for the future to tell.”
Henry was mentioned in trade talks prior to this season’s deadline. He told the “Bussin’ With The Boys” crew that he was close to being dealt.
“I felt like it was close,” Henry said. “It was close. It was close, boys. It was close.”
Henry’s days of being a 2,000-yard rusher are over, but he’s still a highly productive player. In 17 games this season, he rushed for 1,167 yards and 12 touchdowns on 280 carries.
As of now, Henry is expected to hit the open market this offseason.
