Earlier this year, Blaise Taylor was arrested on two counts of first-degree murder. He was accused of poisoning his girlfriend Jade Benning and her fetus.
Benning passed away on March 6, 2023. She was just 25 years old.
On Wednesday, Taylor made his first court appearance regarding this case. The district attorney’s office is reportedly pursuing life in prison without parole for his actions.
The DA’s office is aiming for life in prison for a variety of reasons. For starters, the alleged murder was “committed against a person less than 12 years of age” meanwhile the defendant was older than 18.
Another reason is that Taylor was accused of “intentionally killing” Benning despite knowing she was pregnant.
It was previously reported by homicide detectives that Taylor “poisoned Benning without her knowledge while visiting her Lebanon Pike apartment” in February 2023.
After Benning passed away, Taylor moved to Utah.
Taylor, the son of college football coach Trooper Taylor, was a scout for the Tennessee Titans from 2019-2023.
According to FOX 17 News, Taylor’s bond hearing is set for April 15.
We’ll continue to provide updates on this disturbing situation.
