Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin wants more than anything to see his team win a championship again. To that end, he believes the Cowboys should do whatever they can to sign one particular running back.
On Friday’s edition of Undisputed, Irvin made the case that the Cowboys should sign Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry in the offseason. He believes that Henry hasn’t gotten the respect he deserves in Nashville and would get a lot more love in Dallas.
“Derrick Henry can get them back! Derrick Henry hasn’t gotten the love that he deserves. Come on over. Put that star on your helmet, buddy, and let us show you that kind of love. Let’s see Derrick Henry get 2,000 yards for the Dallas Cowboys,” Irvin said.
Irvin’s colleague Keyshawn Johnson pushed back heavily on Irvin’s argument, pointing out that the Henry could never get to 2,000 yards because he would need touches that would take away from quarterback Dak Prescott throwing the ball.
Henry is coming off his sixth straight season with over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and double-digit touchdowns. 2023 also marked the fourth time in five years that he led the league in carries.
But Henry also just turned 30 – an age where nearly all running backs hit the wall, especially after getting as many carries as he has through the years.
Even if the Cowboys did sign Henry, one has to wonder just how effective he would be for them.
Should Dallas try to sign Henry at any cost, or should they leave well enough alone?
