It’s no secret that the Tennessee Titans are searching for a quarterback. New general manager Mike Borgonzi has gone on record saying the team will “turn over every stone” to find their next signal caller.
The Titans will add at least one quarterback this offseason, and at this point, the biggest question is whether he will be a free agent or be taken in the draft. If it is a veteran there are some options available.
NFL analyst Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports recently identified the top veteran quarterbacks that could be available and named the Titans as a potential top landing spot for one of them.
3. Aaron Rodgers
Age: 41 | Season: 21st | Current Team: New York Jets
The former Green Bay Packers star had a disastrous two-year stint in New Jersey, where his age finally showed as he struggled to elude steady pressure and/or operate a disciplined offensive attack. But his arm remains intact, as evidenced by some late-year darts in 2024. The challenge for the cerebral Rodgers, provided he doesn’t pivot last minute to retirement, will be finding a team both a.) ready to contend, b.) is willing to push all the chips on 2025, and c.) absorb the inevitable headlines of his arrival.
Projected AAV: $25 million-$30 million
Best fits: Raiders, Steelers, Titans, Vikings
Prediction: Signs one-year, $25 million deal with Tennessee Titans
Rodgers has always been a polarizing figure in the NFL and appears to be on the backside of his career. Even at this stage, he would be an upgrade over Will Levis and that is a positive, but his fit on the team with head coach Brian Callahan and the new front office would be a major concern.
There are so many unknowns with Rodgers at this point that it would be hard to tell what he or Tennessee are thinking. The Titans are a team in transition, and their needs along the offensive line and at wide receiver could curtail their interest in Nashville.
At this point, this is all speculation as Rodgers remains under contract with the Jets, although he is expected to be released ahead of free agency.
