In the hours before the NFL trade deadline we were apparently one word away from the Tennessee Titans trading all-world running back Derrick Henry to the Baltimore Ravens. But that word of “veto” apparently came from the Titans’ owner.
According to Ravens insider Cole Jackson, the Ravens and Titans had a deal in place to send Henry to Baltimore. But Strunk decided to nix the trade.
“Per sources, the #Ravens and Titans had a deal in place for Henry. That deal was vetoed by the Titans owner,” Jackson wrote.
Fans were stunned by the report though a few were skeptical of it since Strunk doesn’t have a reputation for getting involved in the roster makeup of the team unlike some other NFL owners:
These owners are imbeciles they don’t want to pay RBs but then they won’t allow their GMs to trade them it makes no sense https://t.co/IqBwuXhOhl

Owners should not get involved in trades. You hired a GM for this EXACT reason. Let Ran do his job. I don’t want Henry gone either but if it makes the team better, you do it. https://t.co/PYnxKUUpp6

Calling bs on this one. She’s never he any reports of having anything like this come up ever. Why now? She’s not a historic meddler like Irsay/Jones/Tepper https://t.co/jcWL7DlZlF

There’s a lot we don’t know about this trade such as what the return was going to be or if Amy Adams Strunk was the only person in the organization who disagreed with the trade.
One thing seems sure though: Henry is extremely unlikely to be moved now with mere hours to go before the trade deadline expires.
Henry’s long-term future in Tennessee may be in doubt, but for now he appears set to finish this year with the year.
