Apparently Colt Anderson has been fired
While there has been no news from the Tennessee Titans about changes on the coaching staff, it appears that special teams coordinator Colt Anderson has been fired. I say that because Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Titans are hiring former Dallas Cowboys special teams coordinator John Fassel for the same position with the Titans. This, needless to say, is a monumental upgrade.
Look at where the Cowboys special teams ranked in 2024:
John Fassel is a massive upgrade.
Cowboys ST this year:
• 1st in KR TDs
• 1st in KR AVG
• 1st in 40+ yard KR
• 1st in PR TDs
• 14th in PR AVG
• 8th in 20+ yard PR
• 11th in KR AVG allowed
• 13th in NET Punting
• 2nd in FGM

Fassel got his first special teams coordinator job back in 2008 with the then Oakland Raiders. He went from there to the Los Angeles Rams. In a weird tie to the Titans, he took over as the interim head coach for the Rams when Jeff Fisher was fired in 2017. He stayed on staff there when Sean McVay was hired before moving on to join the Dallas Cowboys in 2020.
As for Anderson, his one year with the Titans was a disaster – especially at the beginning. It was pretty clear that he was in over his head.
Brian Callahan is likely coaching for his job in 2025. It is a good idea for him to surround himself with really good coaches. This is a great start to that.
Now we wait to see if any other moves will be made on the coaching staff….
