The Tennessee Titans shocked fans and media alike when they fired head coach Mike Vrabel this week after six seasons in charge.
Vrabel had turned in back-to-back losing seasons, but had made the playoffs in three of the four years before that.
Ultimately, what did him in in Tennessee is the same thing that costs people relationships in all facets of their life, NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic suggested on “The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugots” Wednesday.
“Why did Mike Vrabel get fired? Because of bad communication,” Russini said.

“Mark Davis wants a star in Vegas…They are definitely doing their homework on some of these available coaches, one of them being Jim Harbaugh.”

Russini went on to say that what made Vrabel successful in Nashville ultimately wore out its welcome and led to his downfall.
“I think the Titans were worn out by Mike Vrabel,” she said. “The things that they love about him, the reasons why they’ve had so much success over the years I believe are also the same reasons that got him fired.”
On the bright side, the 48-year-old former NFL linebacker shouldn’t be unemployed for long, and Russini reports that there is already robust interest for Vrabel around the league.
“There are teams out there that have a coach in place, they’ve already told everybody this is our guy–maybe some of these teams are still playing, maybe they’re not–who had conversations yesterday after Mike Vrabel was fired about moving on from their current head coach,” she said.
Vrabel posted an overall record of 54-45 in his six seasons in Tennessee.
