You don’t rush for 2,000 yards in the NFL without putting in the work and Derrick Henry’s workouts are the stuff of legend.
As the veteran running back prepares for an uncertain offseason where he’ll more than likely be playing in a different city for the first time in his pro football career, Henry is likely more motivated than ever to prove he’s still the NFL’s rushing king.
Listed at 6-foot-3, 247-pounds, Henry isn’t your typical running back and neither is his preparation. Here’s a look at three of the wildest workout videos we could find of the four-time Pro Bowler over the years:
HEAVY Legs
How do you follow-up deadlifting nearly 300 lbs? By lunging across the gym with half your bodyweight and box squatting six plates on each side for reps of course. Henry showed why running for over 100 yards per game is nothing to him in a clip posted a couple of years ago. It’s easy to see why defenders have been getting out of his way since his days at Alabama.
4-Foot Box Jump
It’s not often that you see a man who’s 250+ pounds able to jump four feet off the ground but that’s exactly what Henry did during another plyometric workout in the summer of 2021. The former Heisman Trophy winner rarely breaks out the hurdle — he’d rather run you over — but it’s nice to know he has it in his bag when needed.

You have to be in immaculate cardiovascular condition to be able to tote the rock all season long like Henry has been able to year-after-year. In a video shared by his trainer last year, the Titans star was seen doing a dead sprint up a steady incline on the side of the highway and its safe to say that wasn’t the only one.
Derrick Henry is set to hit free agency at 30-years-old which is usually the point of no return for most running backs. But Henry isn’t most running backs… and he’s still more than capable of handling a full workload in a productive offense.
The obvious choice for teams looking to sign him would be the run-heavy Baltimore Ravens. However, the odds at DraftKings Sportsbook have steadily increased when it comes to the Florida native potentially finding himself in a Miami Dolphins uniform.
Don’t sleep on the rival Houston Texans either, who could use a downhill runner to take some pressure off Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud.
