It’s the final weekend of the NFL preseason and all 32 teams will be in action over the next couple of days. Six more will be playing on Friday with three games on the schedule.
Starting at 8 p.m. ET on CBS will be the Detroit Lions at the Carolina Panthers. The Lions are making their final preparations for what many believe could be a playoff push, while the Panthers are gearing up for their first year under Frank Reich and with rookie quarterback Bryce Young under center.
At 8:15 p.m. ET on NFL Network, the New England Patriots will be at the Tennessee Titans. Both teams suffered late season meltdowns in 2022 and missed the playoffs due in no small part to issues at quarterback. They’re both hoping to have their issues resolved in Week 1.
Finally, at 10 p.m. ET on NFL Network will be the Los Angeles Chargers at the San Francisco 49ers. The Chargers hope to avenge last year’s playoff stunner while the 49ers are beginning a new era at quarterback with Brock Purdy as their Week 1 starter. The former Mr. Irrelevant will be backed up by two former No. 3 overall picks in Sam Darnold and Trey Lance.

The games may not have much value to the fans, but for the players the three games could very well make or break roster spots whether it’s on the team they’re playing for or for another team in the event they get cut.
