Brian Callahan was among the first head coaches hired during this past NFL coaching cycle and he’s working quickly to fill his first staff with talented yet familiar faces.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Callahan and the Titans are hiring Jacksonville Jaguars passing game coordinator Nick Holz as their new offensive coordinator. Holz previously served as offensive coordinator at UNLV and was an assistant on the Raiders for 10 years before that.
Holz and Callahan briefly crossed paths with the Raiders when the team hired Callahan as quarterbacks coach for the 2018 season. They were also high school teammates at California’s De La Salle High School.
“The #Titans are hiring #Jaguars pass-game coordinator Nick Holz as their new offensive coordinator under Brian Callahan, sources say. Prior to joining the Jags, Holz was the UNLV OC and was on the #Raiders staff before that. Now, sticks in Tennessee,” Rapoport wrote.

Brian Callahan made some waves yesterday when he hired his father, Cleveland Browns offensive line coach Bill Callahan, to join his staff as well. In doing so, he became the first head coach in NFL history to formally hire his own father to his coaching staff.
Callahan has a lot of work to do to get the Titans back to respectability, let alone title contention.
Will he have the right people around him to get the job done?
