The Tennessee Titans were defeated 38-30 by the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Shane Steichen’s offense rounded off 38 unanswered to take a 38-7 lead and the Titans fell short of executing an unthinkable comeback. The Nashville-based club was embarrassed by a Colts offense that rushed for approximately 1,256 rushing yards (actually 335). Brian Callahan’s team is now a hopeless 3-12. They own the second-worst record in the NFL. Only the New York Giants have won fewer contests.
If you’re following the Titans for updates regarding the 2025 NFL Draft order, Sunday delivered some positive movement. The Carolina Panthers defeated the Arizona Cardinals in an overtime thriller, which dropped them below Tennessee in the order. In the late afternoon window, the Las Vegas Raiders beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. All of that action helped the Titans move up from sixth to No. 4 overall in the current order.
Assuming quarterbacks Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders go No. 1 and 2 overall, securing a top-four finish would guarantee the Titans an opportunity to select a blue-chip prospect like Travis Hunter, Tetairoa McMillan, or Abdul Carter. Of course, this is also assuming the Titans aren’t players for Ward or Sanders.
The Titans possess two remaining games in their 2024 schedule. Both of them are AFC South showdowns. They somehow lost to the Jaguars earlier this campaign, and defeated the Houston Texans. That makes the upcoming rematches slightly unpredictable. Next weekend’s contest versus the Jaguars will have massive implications on the final draft order.
The Giants are overwhelming favorites to clinch the top overall selection. They’ll conclude their campaign by hosting the Colts before traveling to play their NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles. A 2-15 finish appears likely.
The Titans possess several needs that general manager Ran Carthon could consider addressing with a pending top-five selection. A quarterback to replace Will Levis and Mason Rudolph could garner consideration. EDGE, wide receiver, and right tackle are pressing needs, too.
