MACON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — After leading his team to win the very first state football title in Macon County High School history, Kyle Shoulders has been selected as the 2024 Tennessee Titans High School Coach of the Year presented by Whataburger.
“Coach Shoulders truly embodies the values and qualities representing the Titans Coach of the Year award. His role as head coach has been transformative for the Macon County football program resulting in a historical state championship win for the school,” Titans Vice President of Cause Marketing Josh Corey said. “He continues to work tirelessly to enrich the lives of his players on and off-the-field, developing character and sportsmanship through hard work and dedication. We are proud to honor him this year and look forward to all he will accomplish in the future.”
According to the Titans, this year marks the seventh season for Shoulders at Macon County High School, which also happens to be his alma mater. Since he started his tenure in 2017, Shoulders has led the Tigers to the TSSAA playoffs each year. He also serves as an assistant principal at the school because he is equally committed to the academic success of his students.
“Macon County High School is honored and privileged to have Kyle Shoulders as the head football coach,” said Macon County High School Principal Daniel Cook. “His character, work ethic, expectations, knowledge, selfless attitude, and his love for players, coaches, school, and community is embodied within our football program. On behalf of our School and Community, we are so proud of the accomplishments of Coach Shoulders and our MCHS Football Team.”
As the 2024 Tennessee Titans Coach of the Year, officials said Shoulders received a $3,000 grant from the Titans and the NFL to help his football program.
In addition, the Titans said their award qualifies Shoulders for the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year award, which honors high school football coaches who display integrity, achievement, and leadership exemplified by its namesake, the coach with the most wins in NFL history. The winner will be announced in January and receive more than $25,000 in grants for personal and football program use.
